WELCOME TO GLOBAL GOALS WEEK 2017
The 17 Sustainable Development Goals, adopted by 193 world leaders, are a shared vision for humanity. If achieved, it would mean an end to extreme poverty, inequality and the worst threats of climate change by 2030. They will only be reached if dedicated leaders rise up to champion them.
Global Goals Week takes place each September, marking the anniversary of the SDGs being agreed at the United Nations. Events take place across New York bringing together individuals, governments, businesses, international organisations, NGOs and other partners to showcase ideas, solutions and partnerships around the Goals.
HOW CAN YOU GET INVOLVED?
Global Goals Week is an opportunity to raise awareness and accelerate the progress being made towards the Global Goals. From sharing a film with your friends, wearing a Global Goals badge or branding your website, to joining an event like the Social Good Summit or holding your own, you can be part of it.
This year sees the launch of Goalkeepers, hosted by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation. Watch the event live stream on the Goalkeepers page on September 20, as well as the Global Goals Awards on the evening of September 19. Ahead of the event, you can read the Goalkeepers Report, which tells some of the stories behind the data.
Go to the goalkeepers website to see the full schedule of events taking place during Global Goals Week, download the Global Goals Week toolkit and create your own #Goalkeepers17 avatar.
